Essex Cake Smash Photographer

For all cake smash photography sessions, I use a range of high-quality props such as bunting, balloons and wooden numbers. These add a big bright dollop of extra fun to your child’s pictures. And let’s not forget the cake, which is sourced from a local baker (if your child has allergies you are welcome to bring your own cake). Both the cake and the props are included in the package price.

The duration of your session will vary according to your choice of package and your baby’s mood on the day.

BEFORE YOUR SESSION

Prior to your cake smash session, you can help your child to feel at ease by allowing them to enjoy plenty of messy play activities at home. You could even give them a small cupcake to squash so they get used to the texture of crumbs and icing between their fingers. And please don’t rush to wipe their hands until they’ve had a chance to thoroughly explore the experience! I want to encourage your child’s natural curiosity, which will help them to feel happy and confident when they are presented with a much larger cake during the actual photoshoot.

DURING THE SESSION

Be warned! The cake smash experience can get very messy for everyone involved, including the parents, so make sure to dress your little one (as well as yourself) in clothes that you don’t mind getting sticky!
Older siblings are welcome to join the session at the beginning before the cake smash begins, but sometimes it can also help your little one feel at ease if they have their siblings join in with eating the cake during the session too.

AFTER THE SESSION

Finally, when the time comes to clean up at the end, there is splash time! This is a really fun way for your baby to get clean at the end of the session (and for me to take some more fun photos!). Using a specially made replica ornate bath with a giant rubber duck backdrop, the splash session makes for the perfect ending to your cake smash session.
